About the Artist

I’m an old gypsy woman, figuratively speaking.

I have traveled, and lived, in every corner of the continent.

Professionally

I have always contributed to building arts communities because the arts contribute to our systemic wholeness of being, bringing people together to celebrate culture and find common ground. I have served several Art Associations, two Cultural Centers, half a dozen or so galleries- wearing many titles.

In the Studio

The process has always been quantum, for me. (Everything is sacred, not everything is quantum.) Planning ten twisted perspectives of an expression hidden within the lines and volumes of two human bodies takes some time. I paint in transparent layers, because that is how I see the world. I utilize intense color, because the spectrum of my human experience is intense. Calligraphic lines sweeping between levels of awareness represent progressions of ideas, trains of thought, or patterns of travel.

I had a professor who used to needle us with questions like, "what makes it worthy of my consideration?" Thanks to James Hill I know all viewers deserve at least that much from every artistic offering. I feel that every piece presented must either come from or speak to something sacred and profane. It must be inspired and it must be clearly manifest. It may inspire others, but it must be considerable, in it's breadth or poignancy, to achieve that goal.

The Process

E=mc2 says so much, with so little. I realize I need an expression which embraces the systemic wholeness, if only at a glance. But, my best effort to wrap my brain around this whole yields only questions, whispered twinkles from distances I can not fathom, reflected within depths I can not reach.

Not to be denied, I use transparent, glazed layers, because nothing is hidden. (I may be dense, but the organism I live in is not.)  I use calligraphic lines, because the geometries exist within a permeable state, and the natural laws governing their behavior are more than we experience with our limited senses. I will use  a shifting chiaroscuro, because forms are fleeting, energies are shifting. Clouds of potentials are shifting through forms, changing everything as they go.
